July 28th 3:30 - An afternoon with Bigg's orca

This afternoon we visited a T-party of Transient orca! T-parties occur when multiple pods come together. Today we had the T37A’s visiting with the T46’s and the T137’s. The T37A’s and T137’s have been spotted together frequently in the past month. Volker (T37A), the Matriarch of the T37A’s, has been swimming very close with Jack (T137A) during every encounter we have had with them in the past few weeks.

We also managed to spot a single lone humpback near Valdes Island. This humpback was being quite camera shy and unfortunately we were unable to get a good ID shot of its fluke, but it was wonderful to see this gentle giant swimming around nonetheless!

And last but not least, we saw a majestic bald eagle guarding its prey and then flying off with it to enjoy dinner!
