May 17th - Transient Orcas off Gabriola Island

We had an exciting encounter with the T49A family, less than 30 minutes from Nanaimo! Since orcas don’t follow a daily schedule, we never know what kinds of behaviours we are going to witness out there. We were thrilled to watch this family show us some variety including tail slaps, syphops (when a whale surfaces vertically), and even some breaches!
