September 8th - A visit with humpback whales Slate, Mammoth, and Orion

On September 8th, we were lucky enough to find three humpback whales! We first found Orion(BCX1251) near Bowen Island. Orion was doing deep long dives so we didn’t stay there too long.

Afterwards, we headed towards Galiano Island where we found Mammoth (KEX0023) and Slate (BCX1210). We got frequent looks at them both and were lucky enough to spend this time with these humpbacks before they head back to Hawaii. Humpbacks migrate to warmer waters to their breeding grounds such as Hawaii after feeding in these cold, productive waters.
