July 7th - Transient orca on the hunt near Lantzville!

On July 7th, we were able to find humpback whales and transient orcas! Our trip started with heading towards Gabriola Island, where we found two humpback whales northwest of it. The two humpbacks were taking long, deep feeding dives.

After spending some time with the humpbacks, we headed up north where we spotted a pod of transient killer whales near Lantzville! The killer whales were hunting when we arrived and were moving quite fast. They can travel up to 56 km/h, making them one of the fastest marine mammals. The killer whales were quite active as they were seen to do a frequent tail slapping, a few spy hops, and a few breaches!
