July 26th - Bigg's Orca in our backyard!
On July 26th we had lots of sunshine while we caught up with the T37A orca pod, just outside Nanaimo!
We started the day by heading south through Dodd Narrows, and it wasn’t long after that we found orca matriarch T37A “Volker” and her family. Orcas can travel upwards of 100km per day and pods can be found all the way from Alaska to California. However the T37A pod has been sighted several times around Nanaimo in the past few weeks, which is a good indication they’re finding all the food they need right here in our waters!
Check out our photos from the trip, including seals, sea lions, and some birds too!
