August 11th - Humpbacks all day!
On August 11th, we had a great day on the water filled with humpback whales. First in the morning, we found BCX0870 “Scoop” near Porlier Pass. After spending some time with Scoop, our marine naturalist Cheyenne spotted three humpback whales east of Gabriola Island. We identified these whales to be KEY0002 “Cassiopeia”, BCYuk2015#1 “Smiley”, and BCYuk2016#10 “Pepper”. We got some good action from them as they were seen to be breaching and tail-slapping. For the evening tour, we found Cassiopeia, Smiley and Pepper again east of Valdes Island.
