August 2nd - A humpback at Thrasher Rock!

On August second we were surprised with a last minute humpback! Our tour took us around the southern gulf islands in search of the whales for the day, for most of the trip we weren't lucky enough to find any whales, but on the way back to the harbour we got word of a humpback just a few minutes away! As we always say, there's always the chance to find a whale right up until you tie up on the dock.

This humpback was doing long feeding dives around the nutrient rich Gabriola Reefs, right by Thrasher Rock. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get any good photos but hopefully the seals and their pups from that trip will be enough!
